A player's level indicates how much experience they have. When you gain enough experience to go up a level you get various items as a reward. When a player levels up into a new group, they can afford to invest more into their power attribute without incurring a penalty (1 additional power per level, starting at 20). A player's level also affects what equipment they can buy and use, and in tournament mode, the average level of the players determines the tournament level.
